18 years or older.

How do I become a member of DCSAR?
Beginning in June of each year, we have a membership drive. Applications are reviewed and applicants interviewed in August. Our six week awareness level Academy starts in September.

Where does DCSAR meet?
The Douglas County Judicial and Law Enforcement Building Training Room. 1625 Eight St. Minden, NV

How often does DCSAR meet?
SAR has three regularly schedule events each month. A classroom training the second Thursday of the month which is followed on Sunday by an eight hour practical exercise training. Then on the fourth Thursday we have a General Meeting.

Do DCSAR members carry firearms?
No. While we are associated with the Sheriff's Department, we are not sworn officers.

Can you use your own vehicle for Search & Rescue?
Only Operations Leaders and Team Leaders may respond in their own vehicles. Permission can be given on a per mission basis.

I don't wish to become a member, but what can I do to help?
By becoming a benefactor of DCSAR. Obtaining and replacing equipment is very expensive. Direct donations of any amount are always appreciated. Can I be a Member without having to go into the field?
Yes. We have a Support Category for those who don't wish to be Rescue Members. These individuals work behind the scenes in various capacities.
